It has been almost forty four years since Livingston opened its doors to us all.

In that time it has grown from a small community into a vibrant town with a population only exceded by the larger cities in Scotland.

From what was originally council owned housing, the town has an abundance of privately built properties mainly on its perimeter and many took the opportunity of purchasing their council owned property from the late 170s onwards.

In the beginning it had a multitude of employment opportunities in a wide arrrangement of businesses.

Alas, most of its manufacturing companies have ceased to exist with the main employment emanating from the computer related industries..

Apart from this, Livingston has a vast array of sporting and amusement opportunities within its border.

All in all, it has proved to be a move well done for many who took the opportunity of settling here.

To this day, the large building in the middle of Houstoun Industrial Estate that was originally Cameron Iron Works in 1966 remains an Icon of the town.
